For its first New York Fashion Week presentation, Taiwanese label Story Wear brought a different kind of runway to New York.
Founded in 2018 by Kuan Chen, Story Wear has spent the last several years building a fashion practice around upcycling, zero-waste design and social impact. The brand transforms discarded denim, deadstock fabrics, surplus textiles and reclaimed garments into new pieces, working alongside local artisans and community organizations across Taiwan.
For Spring/Summer 2027, that philosophy became “LOVE REVOLUTION: A Story of Taiwan.”
Presented at Ideal Glass Studios on September 14, the collection was conceived as an immersive experience rather than a traditional runway. Five installations brought together fashion, art, music and storytelling, inviting guests to move through different expressions of Taiwanese culture, craftsmanship and resilience.
Approximately 30 looks and more than 70 handcrafted garments, accessories and wearable artworks explored the many stories that make up Taiwan, from Indigenous cultures and oceanic heritage to tea culture, everyday workers and the people who continue to shape the island.
At the heart of the presentation is Story Wear’s belief that fashion can carry more than an aesthetic. It can carry memory. It can preserve culture. It can create connection.
“LOVE is the solution. NOW is the future.”
For Story Wear, New York became the next chapter in a story that began in Taiwan, one where circular design, cultural identity and human connection are treated not as separate ideas, but as parts of the same future.

Story Wear is a Taiwanese sustainable fashion brand founded in 2018 by Kuan Chen. The company originally began as a Chinese-language sustainable fashion blog before evolving into a fashion business.
Chen built Story Wear around zero-waste and upcycled design, using existing materials such as discarded denim, deadstock fabrics, surplus textiles and reclaimed garments. The brand also works with local artisans and social organizations, including groups supporting disadvantaged women and people with disabilities.
The brand has previously presented at Taipei Fashion Week and Tokyo Fashion Week, making its New York Fashion Week debut in September 2026.
