For her first solo New York Fashion Week runway, Maggie Fan brought Tang Chi Couture into the space between beauty and darkness.

Presented at The Georgia Room on September 11, “In Between…” explores the fragile distance between life and death, light and shadow, love and obsession. Following Tang Chi Couture’s London Fashion Week debut in 2025, the 25-look collection marks a new chapter for the New York-based couture label.

Fan’s world is deeply emotional and tactile. Silk duchess satin, taffeta, chiffon and velvet are layered with hand-felted birds, feathers, handmade flowers, intricate beading and sculptural resin elements. Dried flowers become custom textile prints, while the delicate patterns of moth wings inspire another of the collection’s textiles.

The result is a collection that feels simultaneously beautiful and unsettling, a study of love, mortality and the things we are drawn toward even when they carry danger.

“In Between…” also signals Tang Chi’s movement beyond couture. The collection spans couture, made-to-order and ready-to-wear, introducing the brand’s first ready-to-wear footwear line while preserving the meticulous craftsmanship at the center of Fan’s practice.

For Tang Chi Couture, New York was more than a runway debut. It was the next chapter in a design language built around memory, nature, emotion and the quiet tension between opposing forces.
